  • “It didn’t take long to be pulled into the plot of the story. And the more I read, the more I was able to relate. In a way, it was like looking at aspects of my own life as a third party observer. The characters are memorable, the plot is well told, and you will find yourself eagerly turning pages to see what develops next. You will root for the main character, cheer for every misstep of the bad guys, and possibly even shed a tear or two as she struggles to repair the relationship with her father through a roller coaster of events and emotions. I don’t often call a book a “must read,” but if you pass on this one then you are definitely going to be missing out.”

I just kind of figured it was some self help book that may have some nuggets of insight here and there. What I didn’t expect was excellently developed characters who are relatable to personal struggles and a good story. I would highly recommend this read based on the story and writing, regardless of what people may or may not be going through.”

    It was enjoyable to have well developed characters, a mystery, and moral issues intertwined in such a way that prompts you to contemplate such monumental issues as life and death. The book deals with the death of a parent in a very real way and demonstrates through the characters, positive ways to process the death, or loss in any fashion, of someone you love. The author also causes the reader to pause and consider the individuals in one’s life and carefully attempt to understand why people do what they do. Finally acceptance that not all people are good and we are limited in our ability to affect some things.”

Bald is a writer with keen insight into the human psyche; he writes with a self-awareness and kindness of spirit seldom experienced in the world of story-telling. I particularly appreciate the high bar of morality evidenced in this and his other stories. He does not rely on the use of fowl language, violence, or explicit sex scenes to convey his message while maintaining an entertaining read.
